Job Summary: The Physician Assistant in the Pediatric ICU provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician. The PA will work with 8 physicians and the ICU team daily to provide care. Responsibilities: • Obtains patient history and performs assessment. • Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures. • Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions. • Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources. • Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care. • Assists in the collection of data for research projects. • Monitors level and adjusts immunosuppressive medications. • Orders and supervises the administration of blood products. • Orders consultation and interacts with members of other specialty teams. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Licenses/Certifications/Registration: • Required Credential(s): • Certified Basic BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. • Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board. • Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Education: • Bachelor's Level Degree • Bachelor's Degree is required upon job transfer or hire date. Work Experience: • Two (2) years of specialty experience, ICU experience and trauma relevant experience to the position is preferred.
